I drove up to Badlands arrived around 5:30. 98 degrees. Camping up on a ridge overlooking some of the park.
Later in the ending: my nice spot on the "Pinnacles" ridge has now been joined by dozens of others mostly in gigantic glampers. Phooey.
Brian and Lindsay's house is under a pre evacuation for wildfire in the area so Brett took them in while they wait and worry. Paula happens to be visiting them so there's some extra comfort she can provide. Fingers crossed that the house will be spared from the flames.
I spoke to a fellow overlander who just came from Devil's Tower and Mt Rushmore which are being overwhelmed by an enormous motorcycle convention in Steurgess. I will probably give both a drive- by since reservations are now required to park at Rushmore.
So tomorrow I will push on to the southern Bighorns near Meadowlark Lake and do some fishing and hiking. Not much cell coverage there so updates will start to get spotty.
