8/25/22. Fished the Warm River this AM. Sunshine, clear water, rises. Life is good.
Headed to Montana to try tail waters of Hegben Reservoir and or Madison River. Will provide a more definitive update by days end.
8/26/22: staying at Beaver Creek BLM area near Earthquake Lake. Beautiful stream and nice campsite. Prime grizzly environment.
Beaver Creek and the Gorge it's in. It must be a River in the spring but there's plenty of water for fishing. Caught 3 small cutbows and had 2 nice sized fish that wriggled off the hook quickly.
Victory! I fished Beaver Creek in the morning catching only a few small fish. Then I happened upon a classic pocket. The Creek had eroded the roots of a pine tree causing it to fall into the water which created a little dam of sorts. The pool was 2-3 ft deep with plenty of cover for trout to hide in. From downstream I cast a grasshopper and a 10 inch rainbow wailed on it but slipped off the hook after only 2 seconds. I tried the hopper again but he wasn't having any of it. Switched to a Hendrickson and he hit it hard only to escape right away. I was seriously bummed that the only fish of size had gotten the better of me twice.
As it turned out, I returned to that spot at sunset. Crept up on the pool and threw him a Humpy. It took a couple of tries but he clobbered it and this time I set the hook properly. Got him! Superb end to a beautiful sunny day.

Another outstanding story in a beautiful place. I noticed you're not complaining about hordes of people abusing BLM campsites. Peace at last.
