Another day of drizzle and showers with temps in the mid forties. Went for hike of about 3 miles. I'm getting much more acclimated to the elevation (8k ft) but still have a way to go.
An adolescent female moose came into my campsite while I was having lunch. She chowed down on some shrubs despite my making noise and yelling.
The soul of my left hiking shoe came apart in the first mile of my walk. I was surprised because I used them a couple of times and waterproofed them just before the trip. Hunting boots and sneakers will be my backup.
Washed my laundry a couple of days ago and hung it out to dry. It rained later that day and hasn't been able to dry in the drizzle of course. Two of my good fishing shirts had a series of tears on the back which turned out to be the work of a squirrel who seemed to be having the time of his life running around on my clothes line and hanging off the shirts that his sharp claws cut into with ease. So, there I am, shotgun and shells in my truck and a squirrel racking up $$ ruining my clothes... Think, think, think.
