Yampa River next

Public fishing access to rivers is relatively rare in Colorado.  This is one for the Colorado River near Kremmling is called Sunset Point.  The sign urges fisherman not to fish in the late afternoon when water temperatures are highest.  Hmm, late afternoon...like near sunset?

Going to Yampa then to Trappers Lake next.

Turns out, the river is not visible from the parking lot.   If you follow that road, this is what you see.  Amazing how there can be a trout River right in the middle of a desert.

Got a 21 inch brown trout at Sunset point this morning. best of the trip so far.  Used hopper dropper  nymph but don't tell my brother!
