Summer 2022 adventures were supposed to begin with a week- long canoe trip down the Allagash River with my friends the Cannons. Right after that I planned to blast off in the Taco Habitat to Montana, then Idaho, followed by my son's wedding in Colorado. In early August.
Unfortunately, very unfortunately, I heard what I wanted to hear and thought the Allagash trip would start June 21 but it was July 21, right in the middle of my Montana plan. A promise is a promise however, and the opportunity to do the Allagash with friends is a treasure.
In the interim I've come up to CT Lakes region of NH where I'm sharing the inside of my truck with 50 mosquitoes because it's better odds than sharing outside with thousands of them.
Yesterday I fished the"Trophy Section" of the CT River where it flows from 1st CT Lake to Lake Francis. Reportedly, 50,000 trout are stocked there annually. 1 fishermen every 10 yards near the bridges but a walk 200 yards upstream was uncontested. Caught a 11cinch brown, 2 rainbows around 12 inches and a bunch tiny salmon.
